After starting later than most other interns because of a trip to Israel I went on, I walked in this morning expecting to feel like the lost, awkward new girl. I left my house this morning at 7 a.m. because I was so worried about being late. As it turned out, none of the bad stuff that I planned on happening that usually would happen to me (traffic, not finding parking, getting lost, etc.) actually happened, and I ended up arriving an hour early. Naturally, I took a nap in my car.
I walked into Esente and immediately felt welcome. Everyone is so friendly here. I am really enjoying the relaxed atmosphere and the fact that I can listen to my music while working.
Other worries I had were that I would be a useless intern lost in the shuffle, and that I would be bored out of my mind. I have heard horror stories about other internships where they spend their days getting coffee for the boss and sitting watching the clock for the rest of the time. Well, I just looked at the clock for the first time since I arrived this morning, and I am shocked to see that it is already 1:30. Time is flying which is a great thing because it means I am anything but bored.
I already feel like I have been useful even in my first few hours as an intern. I wrote a post for the Right Now Against Bullying Facebook page and I sat in on a conference call where Ron was on the phone with a recording artist discussing her plans for coming to Boston to record songs and shoot music videos. It was really exciting to get my first real taste of the music industry. I was even more excited to learn that I have an opportunity to be on the team to work on her shoots and recording sessions while she is here.
After refueling with some Dunkin' Donuts coffee conveniently located downstairs (I am a coffee addict), I am ready to get back to work. I can't wait to see what the rest of the day holds.
