Yesterday we had a very riveting meeting. In short, the small tasks and sometimes tedious responsibilities in any job, profession or career need to be completed in order to move on to bigger and greater things. I agree. And the pure honesty behind delivering the message was phenomenal. I like change and I'm looking forward to the new structure of things and upcoming projects/ideas for us to tackle. My goal is to keep my leads number consistent. In addition, I'm almost done with the media list for PA. It's a good feeling to look through all that I have accomplished so far. I'll be back Monday!

Until next time!

Today I was able to significantly increase the number of potential clients I found for Onpoint Media. I worked extensively on the media list that I've been developing for the label’s clients and was able to discover new, helpful tools that could aid me in my research.

So Far Today

So far today I have been conducting more Internet research in order to compile a list of potential clients. I can see an improvement in both speed and accuracy from previous weeks. I've been trying to find more information in a shorter period of time, thus the list of potential clientele grows.

Once I have finished conducting research for potential clients, I will continue chipping away at the state media lists. I have only begun this new list for Massachusetts, and there are still many media contacts that I have yet to uncover.

I plan to end the day by continuing to work on the posters to promote anti-bullying. The three new posters, which addresses various types of bullying, are only at the beginning stages of development, as a lot of work needs to be put into them. The intent of these new posters is to unify them with one central idea, yet covering different the aspects of bullying. I'm not entirely sure which artistic direction I am going to take with this new idea, but I am excited to get down to business. As more progress is made on these new posters, I will update with visuals to all to see.

Travis' Internship Update

Today at Esente Music Group I managed to improve my leads-average by a small margin. I would have liked it to a be a little higher but as long as progress is being made, I trust that I’ll sleep soundly, having given my best effort in contributing to the success of OnPoint Media.  I am almost done compiling my list of media contacts in the state of Maryland.  It’s a pretty impressive thing to scroll down and see all those names, job titles, phone numbers and email address, still I have to wonder if I forgot something.  Every day I think of a new way to search for information and almost every time it leads me to something I wouldn’t have found any other way, or at least that’s how I like to dramatize it.  It’s like how when you’re looking for Waldo you might have to try, shutting one eye, holding the book at different angles, or putting a hole through it before you nab the elusive transient.

Just before lunch, we had an intern meeting which struck a balance between bleak illustrations of a dystopian economy and political climate and making promises about how the research skills we’re developing will be useful in finding jobs, just a few short months from now.

Today I'm working on leads again. I actually have grown to enjoy doing leads more than anything else. Yesterday I made 42 but today I'm gonna attempt to beat that number.

I did 9 leads today. Bummer. I wanted to do more. On the other hand it is my birthday tomorrow! I love it when my b-day falls on a weekend! I'm settling in here at Esente pretty good and I'm getting to know the group here a bit better. I'm always quiet at first, but once I know everyone I'm much more lively with a dry sense of humor. I can't believe that this is my last semester of art school. Seems like I just started last week or something. Oh, wait... that was my internship. ;} Woohoo!

End of Week Three

It is the end of my third week as an intern and I have several projects underway. I am working with a group of interns on a music video for Beeca Levy's performance of "Fix You" by Coldplay. I am also working with another group of interns on a promotional video for Becca to use for fundraising to host anti-bullying events across the country. In a meeting yesterday afternoon we began to discuss what our media lists will be used for and how we will be going about using them.

Today I have continued working on compiling leads to find clients for OnPoint Media and adding to my ever growing media list for the state of Ohio. I have been plugging through a list of newspapers throughout Ohio finding and copying as many contacts as I can so I can to aid with contacting these newspapers to help promote an anti-bullying event for Becca Levy. This afternoon I will be continuing work on anti-bullying promotional posters for Becca.

Drunk Driving Poster-Interns

1/31/12
Research some facts on drunk driving to put on the poster.  I changed the layout of the Drunk Driving Poster (with the caution tape) to a horizontal layout with the tape going across the bottom.  I found an image that I had of a crowd looking at lights and thought it looked like an accident scene (which is what I wanted) and edited it in Photoshop.  Then I put the tape on opacity so it was not the main focus of the poster.  When adding the text I found it hard to choose which font to use and did many verses of the poster.  One poster idea just had the words Think When Driving and the other a fact on drunk driving.  For my second drunk driving poster I had a different concept.  The concept was to show a blurred image against a in-focus image of the same thing meaning that if both are blurred you should not drive. I might can the wording to reflect the poster’s concept more.  Continued to collect (26) leads from Salem, MA for On Point Media.  Then I worked on media list with collecting 41 emails and contact pages for Magazine, Newspaper, TV, and Radio in Maine.

Bradley's Intern Update

Today I began researching and collecting more contact information of shopping and store locations in Salem Massachusetts for potential website clients with OnPoint Media. In doing this, OnPoint can send sales proposals to local businesses and hopefully develop websites for them that are more satisfying than the ones currently in use, if any.

Additionally, I spent more time collecting contact information of newspapers editors throughout the state of New York to send future press releases to about our music clients. Being that New York is a large state, there are many media outlets that can be reached out to. I am confident that collecting a large number of media sources will provide Esente with a very good chance of finding several media source to publish our future press releases. The more options, the better the odds.

That's all for today,

Another Day in the Life of a PR Intern

Robert Skolnik
PR Intern, Esente Music Group

Today I was able to obtain 20 leads during my daily hour and a half of research for Onpoint. I finished the real estate leads list and moved onto government agencies, which proved to be an extremely lucrative list. Going onto developing my media list, I was able to finish my list of Rhode Island radio contacts (finally!)and move onto college radio stations. After lunch we had a long intern meeting during which Ron went over what our goals will be for the remainder of the internship. We went over some of the details for our large project for the semester, One Night Stand. One Night Stand will be a large scale anti-bullying campaign concert which we (the interns) will be responsible for facilitating. We will be responsible for everything from finding bands that will perform to figuring out all of the logistics of the event. I’m extremely excited to begin working on it! We also briefly went over the idea of creating a “Master Plan” for how to go about finding, contacting, and booking clients. I finished my day by completing my revisions of the captions for victim’s stories in our Becca Levy video, which I mentioned in my blog entry earlier this week.

What new with the Interns?

1/30/13 I continued to collect 19 more leads for professional service companies in the Salem, Ma area.  Then gather 11 news & radio stations, 10 newspaper & magazines, and 28 emails from these 21 for Media List of Maine.  This will be used in the future to send news on artist from Esente.  At the intern meeting we discussed further projects that each will contribute.  One of the projects is called One Nigh Stand where we give bands tickets to play at a club with 4 others for anti-bully concert series.  We all will help get the bands, find a venue, promote the concert, and plan other material that is needed.  Then I continued to work on my anti-bully poster with suggestion from Amanda, I changed the color of the matches to red and cut the background in between the matches.  I took the changed photo and placed in the poster layout.  I also changed the background color to blue so the red could show up.  With the blue background I also try putting the original image and the filter green match image to see which one looked the best.

What I've been up to

During my first few day of my internship with Esente, I've been taught how to collect the leads for the Esente Music Group and compiling an ever-growing Media List for OnPoint Media Company. I've also been able to show my talents as a graphic design student and created a poster on anti-bullying.

This poster addresses the issues that can come from staying silent about bullying. I wanted to use very strong but minimal colors to create a eye catching poster. The image it self was created in Adobe Illustrator and then was brought in to InDesign to do the type layout. There is second version but only difference is the copy, while the slogan stays the same. I hope to be doing a lot more work like this during my time here.

Yesterday I worked a bit more on the final animation for the music video for Becca Levy's "Fix You" cover, here is another example of imagery from the animation:
Also worked a bit more on one of my anti-bullying posters, the main idea behind it being about how bullies in movies are portrayed as villains:

And as always, more work on leads for Onpoint and the media list, an easy and relaxing way to start the day :)

Intern Creative Update

Recently, myself and the other interns have been working on an original Anti-Bullying video featuring Rebecca Levy to be used on rightnowagainstbullying.com. The purpose of the video is to spread awareness of the dangers of bullying and highlight a few tragic outcomes that can result from bullying. My role was to provide creative input to the team leaders of this video project and suggest caption changes and photo additions to strengthen the video's message.

More updates coming soon.

Daily Update

Today I started the day off by tracking down leads for more potential clients in Salem, Massachusetts. The process of compiling all important date into the spreadsheets is getting a lot easier and faster the more that I do it. It seems that I've been finding more in less time, so this is definitely an improvement from a week or two ago. I researched the list of potential clients for about an hour and a half today, with a good amount of success.

After I finished researching potential clients, I began researching some more for the rest of the posters I will be designing. It was mentioned before that I had completed several of them, but had thought of another idea to unify 3 separate posters into one general theme. I have only begun researching the various types of bullying, in which I will incorporate these into the posters.

To be more specific, the idea for these three new posters is that they will each confront a different type of bullying: verbal, physical and cyber bullying. I think it’s important that the different types of bullying are brought to the public’s attention, not the most common. People need to be aware of all the different forms of bullying that take place, not just cyber bullying or not just physical bullying.

Until next time!

Welcome!

I'm very excited to share my experiences interning at the Esente Music Group. A little bit about me so I'm not a stranger to you guys, my name is Anna. I graduated from Endicott in May (2012). A native of CT, I'm currently living in Boston. I graduated as a liberal studies major not really sure of what I wanted to do; however, I knew that I wanted be part of a very interactive work environment. Previous to Esente I was doing inside sales for a software company. Unfortunately things don't always pan out and I was let go due to financial struggles within the company.

One door closed and another opened because I came across Esente in search for something new and different. Esente's PR internship opportunity peaked my interest because I knew I'd have the chance to put my writing skills to the test and I would be able to interact with people of different ages and backgrounds. I don't have any expertise with PR and marketing and I knew that interning at Esente would give me a better perspective and experience. Everyone has to start somewhere right?

My first couple days have consisted of creating media lists and finding leads. I never thought my sourcing at my last job would help but it has definitely paid off. I have yet to work on any projects, but I'm excited to see what is ahead for the rest of the week!

Tim Pietrasik - January 30, 2013

So far today I have spent time gathering leads to find clients for OnPoint media. Finding leads is beginning to get easier and my numbers are starting to grow. I have also been adding to my media list for the state of Ohio to be used in anti-bullying and drunk driving prevention events. Later this afternoon I will begin working on a second promotional poster for anti-bullying.

Starting Spring 2013 internship program

Starting Spring 2013 internship program at Esente music group as a PR intern, I'm assigned to gather information of leads in Salem,Massachusetts in a sector of information technology and customer services. In addition, I use search engine to provide media lists, which are state newspaper, college newspaper, radio station, TV channel and magazine, for Connecticut.

As an international student who has no experience working in US company before, this is my great opportunity to learn the office environment in US and also American business culture. I've got a good guidance from doing an internship here. I've learnt not only about how a business do PR and marketing but also about how to work professionally in a real business world.

Thank you :)
