So far at this internship I'm two for two, that is two days and two political rants by Ron. I'm starting to think this will become a theme. While these rants are highly entertaining, they are also quite depressing. Is Ron right? Is this country doomed? Will I have to live with my parents forever? As he rants I cannot help contemplate the fact that I am basically paying to have this internship (I live almost an hour away and of course I have to buy three coffees a day). I feel very lucky to be able to do this at this point in my life, but Ron makes me feel as though I should be saving my pennies. I hate politics, but unfortunately the future is a reality.
With this economy, I realize that the only way I am going to succeed is if I acquire a tougher, more scrappy personality. I am going to need an attitude adjustment in which I play to win, not to make friends. This won't be easy for me as for I am a certified people pleaser and am never one to cut off a driver to get where I am going more quickly (to put it metaphorically).
Anyway, I am very happy to have this internship and starting tomorrow I'm going to try to cut down to two coffees a day (lol). Today I did a lot of writing, which is my least favorite thing to do in the world as a school assignment. I surprisingly enjoyed what I did today, however, as it was much less formal than a school assignment and I had some freedom to be creative. Today has flown by again and I'm excited to see what tomorrow brings.
Also... I forgot the obligatory personal information in my first post yesterday so here it is:
My name is Julia Schneider. I am a marketing major at Tulane University in the A.B. Freeman School of Business in New Orleans, Louisiana. I am passionate about music, running, and traveling. I am a die-hard Dave Matthews Band Fan. I have been to 10 of their concerts, and I have four more coming up in the next two weeks (two nights in Hartford, two nights in Mansfield).
Hasta mañana....
