Yesterday after lunch we separated the PR and graphics interns and worked on our sections of the 50 project. We got a lot done and since there are 10 PR interns I think that we will all be able to get everything together by the beginning of August. We each took five states and we are going to do something similar to leads in order to find the bands and stories for each state. I think this is the most effect and efficient way to compile a list of everyone we contact. We got an email yesterday so as soon as we come up with a template for what we will send to the bands and the people telling their stories, we will be able to begin contacting people. Once we contact people and the begin responding there is going to be a lot more work to do, but I think it will be extremely educational. Even though I am not sure yet where I want to go with my marketing degree, I know that all of the things I have been learning here will be useful to know in the future.
Before Ron left for a sales call this morning I think I heard him saying something about us doing leads for longer today than usual...yay. For some reason all of the lists I've gotten have been full of nothing, I don't know if computers haven't reached Maine yet but out of the 10 categories I received, there were only 29 companies with websites and email addresses!! I was starting to think there was something wrong with my lead-finding ability, but I came to the conclusion it was just the state of Maine. If we keep doing leads after lunch hopefully I'll get some lists with businesses that actually use the Internet.
