Fiesta....Siesta..

This morning was a nice chance of pace. Instead of starting with leads I was assigned some editing work along with some of the other interns. We piled into the freezing conference room and went to work reading and editing blog and social media posts for a couple of our clients. It was definitely much more entertaining than the usual 3 hours of collecting leads and we had a lot of laughs.

Then Ron held an intern meeting to talk to us about a project called "50". The project involves discovering 50 bands to create a compilation album promoting anti-bullying. We will then work to find 50 kids who have been bullied and are willing to share their story. It is called "50" because we will be gathering one band...and one child from each state. This project is something all of the interns are going to have the chance to work together on. A few of the other interns have already done some back work on this project and after lunch we will all meet together to create a proposal for Ron. There is a lot that needs to be done with this so I think it is great to have all the interns working together on it.

This weekend was Fiesta in Gloucester. For those of you who have never heard of it, It is a five day festival honoring the patron saint of the fisherman St. Peter....But honestly I had no idea that is what it was either. I usually just pair Fiesta with boating, eating and drinking! Yesterday I was out on my best friend's boat watching the annual event called "The Greasy Pole"....and it is exactly what it sounds like. There is a greasy pole in the middle of the ocean and each year at Fiesta there are about 40 contestants who fill up on liquid courage, dress up in ridiculous outfits and try to make the slippery...and often painful run/slip across the pole. It is quite a sight to see. Hundreds of boats dock at the greasy pole location and enjoy the view of men dressed up in anything from spider man costumes to princess dresses attempt the greasy pole challenge.

I had a very eventful weekend, but now I am in serious need of a nap!
