During my research for finding leads for Onpoint today I was
able to finish the lists for government agencies, public sectors, and pharmaceuticals
in Beverly, then began work on the list for printing and publishing companies
in Beverly. Continuing onto my Rhode Island media contact list, I forged
through the contacts for college radio stations and moved onto finding Rhode
Island TV stations. Despite the simple, almost mind-numbing nature of the task,
I have come to enjoy compiling this list of contacts. After lunch Laura gave
Brad and I a sheet of text which was being developed for a client, to be used
in a commercial of some sort. Our task was to read through it several times aloud,
as if we were recording for TV or radio, and to figure out the average time it
took to get through the text. We found the average to be around 1 minute and 5
seconds. The rest of my day was spent managing the Facebook and twitter pages
for the RightNow campaign against bullying. After spending a generous amount of
time drudging through websites and searches for content which would be
appropriate to post I finally found several items that were useful. On
Facebook, I posted three links. One was to an article about a 7-year-old boy
arrested in NYC for beating and robbing a classmate, one was to the
cyberbullying research center’s website, and the last one was to the “Kid-Safe-Productions”
webpage. Kid Safe Productions is a theater company, which I discovered on twitter,
which puts on interactive performances for school children in an effort to
educate them about bullying without subjecting them to boring lectures. On
twitter, I replied and retweeted to the KSP page, and posted a separate tweet
with regard to a study I found online that linked bullying to long-term
personality and thought-processing effects.
