Today was a great day to be an intern at Esente Music Group.
The further we get into the internship, the more responsibility we are given;
and today I, for one, really felt things begin to pick up speed. I was able to
find 25 leads during my daily research for Onpoint, making for a successful day
of leads. Then, I was able to finish the college TV stations section of my RI
media list. Now this is where things began to pick up. Earlier in the week our
team of interns was broken up into two groups, one to research contacts for
potential places that Becca Levy could sing the National Anthem and the other
group to do the same for Jayna Lininger. One side goal of the project is to
create a mechanism, or system/method to our madness, to be replicated and used
by future interns. Before continuing our group work on the contact lists (I am
on the Jayna team) we had an intern meeting during which we went over what we
would be doing with these contacts. It seems straight forward, right? Find
contacts and ask if Jayna can sing the National Anthem at one of their events.
Generally speaking, yes, the concept is simple; but the reality is that a lot
more planning and work will go into the whole process. After finding the
contacts, we must figure out what to include in each press kit to send to the
contacts. The emphasis in the press kits will be on each artist respective national
campaign. Jayna Lininger’s being a campaign against drunk driving and Becca
Levy’s an anti-bullying campaign. As I said before, the further we get into the
internship the more responsibility bestowed upon us, and I feel that getting
into contact with these people will be the first time that we are actually
pushed into the “field,” if you will. We won’t just be compiling these lists
for ourselves, but instead actually communicating with outside businesses in a “real”
world scenario. I’m excited.
