End of Another Week

It's Thursday! Which means, Friday is less than a day away! I know I personally can't wait for the weekend to arrive, so I can sleep in one day. Also because I have a decent amount of homework and projects to be working on. But anyways, moving more toward the direction of Esente, things are going pretty well. We have recently started compiling new lists of middle and high schools, as well as fire and police departments in various towns and cities throughout Essex county. I made a decent dent in one of the towns I was assigned, but there is still a lot of plugging information into the spreadsheet to do.

Yesterday, Laura showed several of the interns how to do Internet research for OnPoint Media in a different way than we have previously been using. This new method involves finding surrounding businesses around a business they have sold a website to. The thinking behind this is that these businesses may be interested in some web design, considering a business or two in their general area has done so. In order for us to compile and collect information in this new manner, we target the original location of the business (which has/will be getting a new website through OnPoint) and find any businesses around the original that may also be interested in doing so. I have just begun using this new method today and I am still trying to figure out how best to utilize it.

Shortly before I left yesterday, Ron had begun a meeting with the interns. He talked about various aspects writing a resume for when we look for jobs. He mentioned how you should work on the wording of a resume in order to make it sound more appealing. It's not that we wouldn't already, but he suggested that things can always be told better. This makes sense, because instead of saying one thing, you can beef it up in order to appeal to more employers. He always brought up the point of how one could translate their abilities into a potential job. This made me think a little deeper, because it's not easy finding jobs as it is. And being an artist/designer, you have to be capable of not only art and design but many other tasks as well. The job market is dog eat dog, especially when their are multiple designers vying for one position.
