Today during the meeting, Ron said the first quote mentioned above and it got me thinking, which of the quote makes better sense. With the stupid little analysis in my head , I realize there is always an option that one can chose. This made sense and was the learning of the day I believe for today.
Further on, the meeting got better where we learnt few new meaning and phrases in the Marketing world. One of them being " Throwing Spaghetti at the wall"! This means that when you market a product or services, you try to market it to as many as possible (i.e throwing as many Spaghetti possible at the wall) hoping that you would enough customers to get the ball rolling ( i.e hoping that enough spaghetti would stick to the wall to fill the wall completely) Moving ahead, we all discussed what the real goal is behind each media promotions i.e. TV or Radio or Newspaper.
Later we were asked to work the research work to finish the media list for our respective states. Post Lunch, we all were assigned to group for project by Ron that we would be handling next coming weeks for the summer. I am working with two other PR interns on Christmas Project for Jayna Lininger relating to Never Drive Drunk Cause. We were assigned work to think about what content do we want to put on the poster for the Christmas campaign. We were also asked to figure out the list of music manager in the country to request them to listen to Jayna Lininger's music talent. In this meeting with Ron, he said something worth remember, " As a PR, you need to think What can you sell to the person infront of you" that would benefit you and your company and manipulate things accordingly. I think this is where you decide whether you make the rules or you play the game which you are best at !
The day was filled with lot of work and exciting new projects which I believe needs a lot of research and work.
As I leave for the day, I let you ponder on today's quote - Play A Game Which You Can Win ! or ~ Play A Game Which You Make the Rules ! Which one do you chose?
