Today marks the first official day of my graphic design internship with Esente Music Group and we've already taken off running! My name is Mike Defelippo. I'm a graduate of the University of Miami (Go 'Canes!), with a bachelors in Music Business, and I'm currently getting my associates certificate in Graphic Design from Salem State University. Combining my previous knowledge and experience of the music business, with my newfound skills in graphic design, I'm really hoping I can bring a lot to the company, and prove my value to my colleagues.
At the beginning of the day I went ahead and finished up some designs for posters that had been assigned to me earlier, and then we began our meeting with Ron, the director. Being able to sit and round-table opinions, throw ideas around, and get creative with the other interns was a great experience, and it felt good to not be shackled by more traditional office atmospheres of desks, cubicles, and memos. During the meeting Ron got myself and the new interns up to speed on what's going on with the "12 Pack for Life" project" and then assigned all of us some tasks to complete for the day.
We are mainly responsible for the content creation of the project, as well as most of the front-end communication, so its a a big project, but with a good team, can be managed well. We worked together to brainstorm content for the upcoming craigslist ad were going to create to attract more bands, and then followed up with some current clients who are considering working with our project. I got to listen in on a call that one of my colleagues' had with one of the artist managers, and everything went smoothly. It was also an opportunity for me to see how the project really hashes out for each band.
Overall, I think the day went pretty smoothly and I'm looking forward to getting my hands onto this project fully. With the amount of work we have upcoming, I'm sure there'll be no shortage of things to do. So, here's to the future, and I'll check back in with you all later with some updates!
