What's New with the Interns

4/24/13- Today, I found 39 companies in Boston, Ma for On Point.  Then after lunch I worked making a flower for the Social Media Ad and still need to finish it.  I sent bands a message on Revernation about seeing if they wanted to pay to play in the One Night Stand event.  It seemed to be working and had no problems with the amount I was sending out for the day.

Learning Process

Where to begin, where to begin? Yesterday was a pretty good day overall at the office. It was, however, a horrible day for leads for myself. I was only able to gather 19 in total, which I believe is my worst number to date. What am I going to do? Move on.

Today was slightly better, I managed to find 30 all together. It becomes very tedious after researching all these different companies and just about none of them have a website or even a Facebook. What is this? Some of these businesses need to get with it and update, or create,  some page where people can find them. If they haven't noticed, the Internet is a pretty huge platform for reaching customers and other people. So it just blows my mind they don't have even a free Facebook page or some other free site. There are plenty of tools for people to utilize, I suppose it's just a matter of finding it and using it to your advantage. But I guess, some people don't have time for these things.

Anyways, yesterday we began sending out information about One Night Stand to bands in Tampa, Florida in hopes of receiving some feedback. Each of the interns had a list of bands that we were to contact via various methods including email, Facebook, and ReverbNation. Emailing the bands who had actual email addresses was pretty easy. We did run into some issues when it came to using Facebook as a platform for reaching out to these bands. Because so many of us interns were signed into the same Facebook page, we were eventually locked out as the sight thought it was spam. I believe several of us tried to make other accounts in order to send them the details of the One Night Stand. Even with ReverbNation there were some limitations that impeded our efforts. If you wanted to message the artists or bands there was a character limit (what is this Twitter?). The character limit prevented us from sending the same message to all the other bands. I'm not sure if we will end up reaching out to these bands using the same method or if another system has been suggested, but it was a learning process for all of us.

Towards the end of the day I was able to work on some more of my promotional graphics to drive more people to the blogs. This marks two completed promo graphics! Wa-hoo! I started working on another for the Prevent Drunk Driving Now blog (progress can be seen below). It's no where near being finished but it was just some beginning stages of the development. More promo graphic updates will be coming soon. Stay tuned!

One Night Stand- band contact

4/16/13- Today, I collected 39 companies in Mass for On Point.  Then after lunch I started sending the bands I collected in the past week.  First we started to send the ones with emails first, which was successful.  Then we started to send messages on Facebook, but we got blocked because we had multiple users sending messages at once.  Tomorrow we are going to start to have one person send on Facebook in a slow manner.  After that we tried to send using Reverbnation, but you had to become a fan to message them and there is a 140 character limit.  Amanda told us to hold off until they revised the letter.   I sent 22 emails, request to become a fan on Revernation, and 3 facebook messages.  The band that reply and are chosen will be used in the anti-bully concert series, One Night Stand. The sales team will response to the band and chose the ones to be featured.

On Point Client Project

3/27/13- Today, I collected 27 leads, which is not one of my best, in cities in Mass.  Then Ron called me into his office to give me a project to do.  The project was to look up allergy APPs for research into creating one for an allergy doctor.  From there I went to ITunes and search allergy APPs to come up with a list of what was out there.  Then I composed a list of what I thought should be in the APP to make it successful.  I liked doing this project; it gave me a chance to work on an On Point Media client project.  Then I continue to research bands in KY for One Night Stand Project.

Interns-One Night Stand Project

3/21/13- Today, I started to produce One Night Stand event by gathering bands in Florida.  We then will put together a package to send the bands to have them pay to play at benefit concert for anti-bullying.  All of the interns are responsible for producing a show in a city like Tampa, Florida by doing marketing, contacting the band and gather their information needed.  I also did leads collecting 36 for the day.

5.7 Million Youths

Yesterday was quite a productive day for myself here at the Esente office, considering it was one of my two longer days. I began conducting Internet leads for OnPoint Media, like I would any other day. After about an hour and a half to two hours of research I managed to round up 36 leads for businesses filed under several different lists including, electrical, electronics, energy/resources, among several others.

Once I served my time for leads yesterday, I moved onto the list for Right Now. I continued adding school contacts into the master spread for this future event. It hasn't been too hard to find most of the contacts, but it has been troubling to find some of the police/fire department and union contacts. Anyways, it was still productive as I was able to add at least fifty or so contacts for one of the town's school systems I was assigned.

Later in the afternoon, I felt I needed a break from Internet research and felt the urge to be a little more creative. I chose to work on another poster I have been thinking about, and got a good amount of it completed. I'm still playing around with the text, the color, the positioning, the size of the text. I wanted to create something different, so I chose generic male/female symbols that create the background with a statistic on bullying as the main focal point. Here is a sample of what I have done so far, but more changes are to come.

Time Will Tell

Yesterday I wasn't able to make it into the Esente office, per problems with my car. I was however, able to work on some leads from home yesterday. My total number of collected leads for Monday was 30. Not a bad number, but not a great one either. I scavenged through healthcare, insurance, and finished up with legal. Today I am back in action at Esente, as my car was fixed in order for me to get here today.

So far today I have jumped into conducting more Internet research for OnPoint Media. Currently I am looking throughout Chelmsford, MA for businesses classified under eletrical, electronics, energy/resources and environmental services. I am just about at the end of the list for electrical before I move onto electronics. The numbers seem to be pretty good today. Hopefully I don't jinx myself saying this..

Last week while Becca Levy was here, she was working on some promotional videos for the Right Now campaign and One Night Stand. My understand was she was working on several different videos, many of them which will be used for certain aspects of each event. One of them I believe, is going to be used to help raise awareness and money to promote One Night Stand. This event will be occurring throughout the country, as bands will perform to promote themselves, as well as being associated with the Right Now anti bullying campaign. Things are starting to move forward, and I can't wait to see what the end result will be. Time will tell.

What's New with the Interns?

2/14/13 Today I continued on collecting leads (companies) for On Point Media and got 23.  Then worked on Media List for about an hour and researched 4 magazines with 4 contacts and 8 newspapers with 9 contacts.  After lunch I worked on finding articles and discussions on Pay to Play for research for One Night Stand Tour.  I found more information about why musicians do not want to pay to play.

Whats new with the Interns?

2/13/12 Today, the collecting of companies was harder to find information on lawyers from Brookline and found 20 companies for 2 hrs instead of 1 and half.  I almost finish the radio stations with collecting 7 more stations and 25 emails.  Then Ron called a group of interns in to start working on One Night Stand Project.  Our duty is to find out what people are saying about play to pay in music.  Also to find a solution on how prevent people from saying One Nigh Stand is a scam.  I found out that musicians do not like pay to play because they have to pay and find people to sell tickets to.  They want to play for money instead of paying to play.  Some think it hurts the band’s reputation in showing that they are not good enough to play a real show and they are desperate.  But the event is not just pay to play it is to stop bullying and helps promote the band that would not get exposure otherwise.  Some think battle of the band is a scam because it does not hold up to all that it promises to give to the band.  One Night Stand guarantees the band exposure on the event’s site, bands name in promotion material, and to play with 4 others to prevent bullying.

What new with the Interns?

1/30/13 I continued to collect 19 more leads for professional service companies in the Salem, Ma area.  Then gather 11 news & radio stations, 10 newspaper & magazines, and 28 emails from these 21 for Media List of Maine.  This will be used in the future to send news on artist from Esente.  At the intern meeting we discussed further projects that each will contribute.  One of the projects is called One Nigh Stand where we give bands tickets to play at a club with 4 others for anti-bully concert series.  We all will help get the bands, find a venue, promote the concert, and plan other material that is needed.  Then I continued to work on my anti-bully poster with suggestion from Amanda, I changed the color of the matches to red and cut the background in between the matches.  I took the changed photo and placed in the poster layout.  I also changed the background color to blue so the red could show up.  With the blue background I also try putting the original image and the filter green match image to see which one looked the best.
