Projects

We have been starting many new projects here at Esente.  In addition to Project 50 which I have already mentioned, the interns are taking on 2 additional projects both of which are videos.  These videos will feature all of the interns at some point.  The first video we discussed was a video to promote Esente's antibullying campaign, Right Now: Fighting Bullying with Music.  This video would be explaining what the campaign is for and expressing how bullying can hurt everyone.  We have come up with some ideas on what to discuss in the video, some people have created a script, and I helped work on ideas of different video shots to put in the video.  I think making this video would be really fun for all the interns.  Getting to collaborate with other interns is always fun because we all work really well together and get along.  The second video that we would be working on is a video to promote being an Esente intern which Ron talked to us about in a meeting yesterday morning.  This video would be more explaining what it is we do here as interns and how we help the company.  I think that this could be really helpful for any future interns who are looking at the website deciding whether or not to apply because it will tell them more information. Although I wasn't here to discuss that video yesterday I am sure the PR interns came up with some great ideas on how to convey this information.  Along with discussing the video, Ron also asked us all to collect contact information on our Hometown and College newspapers and send it to Amanda so she can contact the papers to hopefully get us interviewed for an article.  I think he is really trying to spread the word about this company and I think that this would be a great way to start.  Later today I assume we will continue working on all these projects.  Now that we have 3 different ones to work on there will certainly be no lack of things to do!

Happy Wednesday!

End of the tunnel.

I need to get myself back on track. This has been an incredibly long summer doing two jobs and an internship. It feels like this summer is going on forever but August is almost here and I'll need to spend all of August on animating and so I can actually have footage. I'd like to have something to show for this internship in the end.

(Insert Clever Title here)-Part 22

Another day, another work experience or however that old saying goes. Today I collected marketing information from bussiness in the Quincy area. I only collected 66 (pending a half hour left) total today because the the tool I using was on the fritz. Yesterday I wrote a script for a promotional video for this internship. It displays us, the interns, as we really are doing what we actually do here day to day. Hopefully we can shoot it soon, and have it up on the website for all you to see it. I think the video will show just how much work we do here and how much more experience you can get by working here.

50 final touches

Doing research for email marketing is second nature now. I just find a good sequence on 8Tracks and search for three hours. Although I really like the writing aspects of this internship, as Ron said way back in the beginning, it’s important to pedal the bike.

Yesterday the PR interns met to design two intern videos. One will focus upon the intern program in general and the others will serve more as an Anti-Drunk Driving PSA. I found it difficult because I have never written a script before but it was definitely interesting to think about an approach to the technique. I don’t think screenplays are in my future but who knows?

The videos will feature the interns only. We’re going to keep it simple with the hope of broadcasting an efficient and effective message. It’s important to be ambitious and take risks but we are aware that our video making skills are only at a certain point right now and we want to make the best possible video instead of something that will be of distractingly poor quality because we tried to do too many things.

50 is coming along. We will easily accomplish what Ron wanted us to do this summer. I’m hoping today we will be able to finalize all text content and throw some weight into the bullying stories research. The bands were relatively simple to find because of ReverbNation but we need to put some time into looking up possible sources for the bullying stories from every state. We have plenty of time and, like I said, I’m hoping everything else will be done by the end of today.

I hope everyone has an awesome day!

It's the Comedown

Yup, that's right, summer's on a whirlwind to it's demise. The weather is reminding everyone that fall is swiftly approaching and, in it's misty downpour, reflecting our disheartened feelings about the upcoming plunge back into reality. Me? Well I'm hunky dory about the season change. My body temperature can't handle anymore flip flopping between scorching hot sun and blizzard cold buildings. I'm looking forward to returning to Northeastern because not only will I begin learning about business and digital art in depth, but I will no longer be living with my parents!

I've been gathering leads since I came in at 8:30 this morning, collecting the contact information for all of the non classifiable establishments and other business services located in Hollis, NH. Apparently most of their businesses still live in the stone age where professional websites and social media doesn't exist. Out of the hundreds of links I scoured through, only 46 of them had either to speak of. It seems ridiculous to me, that a business owner wouldn't want to provide their current and future customers the basic information they'd need to make a well-informed decision on their product.

After lunch I'll have to work on a logo for a business that does aerial videography for other business' marketing. This is something I think I can get creative with, and therefore come up with a better final product, unlike the last woodworking assignment. I also have to continue making logos for the 50 project but I hope that we will have another session with Ron beforehand so we can pick his brain more. This was his idea and, honestly, I don't think it will live up to his expectations unless we get the opportunity to work more closely with him in these last few weeks.

Besides that I've been getting a lot done for my side projects, creating album artwork for various artists, and I'm really happy with what I've come up with!

Enjoy your Tuesday, folks!

The Machine

In our meeting today Ron told us that originality is over-rated. Much of what we see around us is the result of something else; it was "inspired" by another, or as Ron put it, "stolen." Music artists these days (particularly Pop artists) sound so similar, you'd think they were all the same person. The industry churns out songs that are carbon copies of other songs, which in turn, are copies of other songs. Ron also explained how Lady Gaga's quiet presence in the celebrity world was also another marketing ploy meant to make her "re-entrance" into the world all that more exciting. Having all these social media outlets manipulating information to suit their agendas seems a bit sinister to me, but I suppose the world has always been that way.

On the brighter side, we were given the day to design a logo for a company called "Virtual Tourscape." I'll be looking at the logos of similar companies as references for the design. I'm looking forward to the creative process.

Cooling Down

Today is one of the few days this summer that I can remember it raining, it's nice because it will start to cool down and not be 90+ degrees every day. This morning I did leads for healthcare in Quincy, MA. There were over 800 listings which is more than I have seen in any other city. Doing leads for OnPoint Media, the website building company associated with Esente, is making me more critical of websites that I visit on a regular basis. It is funny how I am noticing things that I have never noticed before. For example if the website has an easily accessible email address and phone number. It is amazing how many websites don't have either.

After lunch we are working on an intern video and drunk driving video script. I'm really excited to start working on this!
