Today is my late day so I just began working. Since my last blog, I started working with Jon (another intern). We started to put everything we've already worked on onto a Google docs so we can both work off it. Jon and I have been assigned to help out with a specific project. And considering we both don't have the same work schedule, Google docs allows us to work with each other even if we both aren't in the office.

Completion of Two Major Project Phases
Today marks the end of the week and the end of two major phases in different projects. As of this morning, I have finally finished collecting contact information on media sources throughout the state of New York to send press releases to on our music clients. I have been at this project for some time and it comes as a relief to finally finish. The next step will be using the contacts to send emails inquiring about getting a press release published. Furthermore, a major step in our first team project has also been completed. My team has finished collecting contact info from sports teams in Kentucky, Ohio, and Pennsylvania at college, minor league, and professional levels to use in getting our music clients National Anthem singing opportunities. Just as with the media list, the next step will now be to send requests and press kits to these contacts to move the project closer to our final goal.

Promote the Group Using the Individual
Yesterday I was put on a team of interns to analyze the possibility of using IndieGoGo for promoting the One Night Stand concert series. We were asked to keep a log of what we learned about the site and how we could use it. Luckily I already had a record of the logistical information so we were able to focus more on constructing a plan on how to use the crowd funding site for this specific project.
The successful campaigns use a short video as a hook with a detailed text section to more suitably describe the campaign. We think it will be best to follow this formula with some minor changes. We can use one video that describes the overall One Night Stand series and then use the text section to describe and promote the individual bands. We think it makes more sense to use several small campaigns for the individual regions than using one large campaign for the entire event. This way the campaigns could get more views and traffic based on the bands themselves as well as the concert series as a whole. At this point these are the only plans we have developed. But more will follow soon enough.

Non-Classifiable Update
I've been running into some bumps with my leads for OnPoint Media the past couple of days. I've been on "Non-Classifiable" businesses in Cambridge which seems like it should account for nearly half the city, but evidently only the parts that no longer exist. Once in a while I'd get a string of companies with website, but even then most of them have moved at some point. More often than not, there is little or no record of them ever existing outside of the Manta page and GoogleMaps. One thing I've noticed is how many companies have Facebook pages that don't look like they've been touched since they were set up. Maybe they've 'Liked' a couple of other businesses in their neighborhood, maybe a park or the local fire department no one has 'Liked' them back and they've been left to wallow in unrequited advertising. It's like they set up the page because they read an article in the Wall Street Journal or the owner's kid in college told them that they "have to have one", but didn't bother thinking or asking about the next step. I don't know what the next step is but OnPoint Media does and perhaps if they left a way of getting in touch with them or at least periodically sent up a figurative flare of some kind so we knew they still existed, OnPoint Media might be able to help.

Taking the Next Step
I
was able to finish my research on healthcare leads in Cambridge for Onpoint
Media and move onto automotive leads in Lawrence. Both of the leads lists that
I worked on today yielded very few leads. My total count for the day was 20.
During our intern meeting we discussed moving forward with the next step in
continuing our National Anthem project; contacting the venues. Before
contacting the venues, we need to figure out what we are going to say to them
and how we are going to present it. What we say to the major league teams will
be different from what we say to the minor league teams, which will be different
from what we say to the college teams. It is important for us to be prepared to
not only send out emails containing Press Kit information, but to be able to
talk to the representatives of each venue over the phone with assertion and
fluidity. What we say, how we say it, and our ability to answer any questions
they might have are all very important. These factors could potentially make or
break our chances of booking Jayna to sing the National Anthem at each venue. I
spent the second part of the day working on outlining these details, and began
drafting emails to cater to each league. I broke down my outline by league, and
created sections for the 5 W’s (who, where, what, when, why) and the 4 legs of
the sale table (value, credibility, uniqueness, and urgency). In order to get
my mind jogging, I also wrote out brief descriptions of how emails to the
different leagues should differ; this should prove helpful when I continue my
rough draft emails. There is still a lot of work to be done before we begin
contacting people, but I am optimistic that our hard work and planning will pay
off handsomely.

What's New with Graphic Design Interns?
2/21/2013- Today
I worked on Leads for companies in Cambridge ,
MA , all morning collecting
30. After lunch I continued on National
Anthem project with my group and gathering contacts for minor leagues and colleges. Then we as a group look at each others
posters, they gave me feedback on my poster and I applied it to my poster. The only thing I had to change was to move
the image so more on the lit matches would be in the poster.

Getting the ONS ball rolling!
We
began work on our One Night Stand project today. The interns split into two
groups in order to evaluate how we could go about using different websites to
promote our campaign. My group looked into indiegogo.com. We wrote out a
summary of how we would utilize the resource and what information and
techniques we would use to draw people to the page and get them to donate
money. I think that indiegogo will prove to be an extremely valuable resource
for the One Night Stand project. After completing our group meeting I began
coming up with ideas and strategies for marketing a house cleaning service. I
made a list of media through which we could market (brochures, website, etc.).
I am hoping to continue work of some sort on that project, which is for an
Onpoint Media client.
