This Weekend

I had plenty of fun this weekend, took a trip to New York City for the New York International Auto Show!  Saw some awesome cars, and even got to visit with some family while I was there.  Here are some of the highlights from the show:
The new Stingray.

The Lambo Aventador.

A beautiful fuschia Aston Martin Vanquish (I think it's a Vanquish).

And of course, the Bugatti Veyron.

Other than that, just playing more catch up on leads and getting ideas for more posters while polishing up the ones I already have in the works.  Excited for today though, as after lunch everyone is going to get a new creative project to do, depending on what they are interning for, which means new graphic project for me!

An Afternoon Blog...

This afternoon one of the other PR interns and I will be working on blogs.  It'll be nice to take a break from internet research and do something that is fun for me.  Apparently there are four blogs to be worked on, excluding the Rock Report I assume since I have already annexed it.  I knew there was a bullying blog but I have no idea what the other three are.  I doubt they'll be as much as writing the Rock Report, but it's always good to write out of one's comfort zone.  One of the biggest complaints I make about my own writing is that it all seems to be the same voice and similar content whether it's fiction, nonfiction, blogging, comedy, screenplays, songs and so on...actually, I think that covers it.  A specific problem is that I have trouble not making something funny.  It is (probably) always a good idea to emulating other styles.  One thing that has kept me from applying for journalism jobs is that I could never seem to write straight and boring, in the style of the Associated Press.  In the past I considered it beneath my capabilities.  I now realize that if I have trouble with it, then I'm not quite above it, am I.  For example, the reason I'm not a lion tamer in the circus isn't because I'm too talented, it's because the lion would eat me.  So today will be good practice and will give me a sense of what blog I might want to take over should I continue as an editor through the summer.

Esente Today

Ahhhh mondays, gotta love having a large case of the mondays, but like usual gotta push forward and keep at the grind. I collected leads for OnPoint Media for wakefield - media, medical, other public sector, and passenger car leasing. I am fully looking forward to doing an art assignment after lunch.

Internship week 10, Monday

On Wednesday of last week, I spent the first part of the day conducting internet research compiling a lead list for OnPoint Media's web design service. I researched companies in Tewksbury, including advertising and marketing companies, agricultural and apparel companies. After about 2 hours of leads, I moved on to working on my band list. I had finished a few band lists last week and was assigned a new list, covering the area of Cleveland, OH. I was towards the end of the Cleveland list, so after a certain point there was either no music to listen to or no contact information available (since the bands were so far down on the page list.) I then moved on to Charlestown, WV, looking for bands within 90 miles of the city.

After spending a good amount of time on leads and our band list, I spent a little more time working on my Jayna Lininger fan art. I'll attach a copy to this post, but I don't feel like it's finished yet. Hopefully I'll have some time to really work on it soon, since all of this list making has been eating up all my time.

New Week

Back to work at the office today after a nice weekend off, or somewhat. Actually I did work yesterday for about nine hours, so it wasn't a typical relaxing holiday for me. Didn't really get to celebrate Easter with my family or anything, but walking out with a couple hundreds dollars yesterday was well worth it. It's all about sacrifices, so yesterday I had to sacrifice spending time with my family.

Today has been a rather uneventful day so far. I began conducting Internet research for OnPoint Media as soon as I got in the door and am still chipping away at a list in Wakefield, MA. Today has been a pretty good day for leads so far as I've been given several lists, not one list with a bunch of dead leads. For this, I am happy as I'm able to add a few leads to the list every few minutes, instead of searching and searching with nothing to show. I believe all the interns are doing leads for the rest of the day, as I think we might still be slightly behind from last week.

Until tomorrow!

I've been working on a few iterations of my previous poster that should come together a bit later today. I've made a short list of sites that have been known to have many cases of cyberbullying. Such websites like Youtube, Myspace, and Twitter. I've done some work already but it needs a few more tweaks till the are all done as a series. But untill then... I shall be collecting leads and people for my media lists.

Weekend Fog

The start of a new week could not be more sluggish for me seeing as it feels like my eye lids weigh a pound each and insist on challenging me to keep them open. Dragging myself through the train station during the heaviest commuting hour of the day didn't help set my day off right on top of my struggle to even leave my apartment. Aside from my lingering weekend fog, my work hasn't suffered the same fate as my energy level. I had a good list to collect business contacts from in insurance companies in Wakefield MA, totaling 24 collections. As the afternoon approaches, I have a new blog writing task to look froward to. The band collection seemed to go well enough last week to focus our attention on other things like compiling more blog posts on the various blogs Esente has set up. If I have it my way, I'll be writing on The Rock Report.

I'll give an update on how that goes tomorrow.
