Becca Levy Fan Art

5/14/13- This is the last week of the internship. I forgot my laptop charger today, so when my computer died I went home and continued to collect lead and create fan art for Becca Levy.  I researched companies in WalthamMA, collecting 30.

Punch or Tickle

Today has been a day, to say the least. The usual Internet research for OnPoint Media for leads isn't going as well as I had anticipated. Yesterday I had hoped to surpass a number I collected the previous day, but I was unable to reach the quota I had set for myself. And I thought yesterday was a bad day. Today has been the worst day of leads I have done since I started them. I finished up a list of "other business services" in North Reading then continued onto several lists for Georgetown, MA.

Now I'm not sure if the other interns were having a similar problem, but it seemed that any of the businesses I was looking for didn't have a website or even a Facebook page. Really? Are these businesses just not able to afford a website or are they just ignorant to the times? Having a website or even a Facebook is HUGE in driving revenue for any business. The times have changed, and the means of reaching out to potential customers and clients has changed as well. Time to update and at least set up a Facebook page for people to check out. Pretty sure it doesn't cost anything to have a Facebook page, so some businesses could at least do this in order to attract some more attention.

Anyways... So I haven't had such a good day for leads, not entirely sure of the unimpressive numbers for today. I don't even want to think about that.

We also had a small meeting today with Ron who wanted to talk about the extent of our promotional doings yesterday. One of the points that he wanted to make was gaining the attention of someone who could be beneficial to our progress. The case yesterday was that one of the interns received an email urging them to stop spamming the Coldplay Facebook with messages. Ron wasn't entirely dissatisfied with this as he said if you want to attract someone's attention you can either punch them in the face or tickle them. Now of course, he didn't mean this literally. Rather you need to be aggressive in your approach or you chip away at at them until they acknowledge your efforts. Essentially we succeeded at what we were attempting to do, get someone's attention.

We started doing some promotional work for Becca Levy's cover of Coldplay's "Fix You". All of us interns were using various social media outlets in order to reach out to more people and drive traffic to Becca's YouTube video. We were utilizing Facebook, Twitter, blog sites and even reaching out to our own family and friends to get them interested in what we are working on.

So far the outcome for our efforts have paid off, as we were able to drive several thousand more viewers to the video and seem to be attracting some attention for Becca. I was able to gain the attention of an Anti-bullying page on Facebook and they had requested an Mp3 of the song to play on a radio show they host. This was pretty exciting to see that someone was genuinely interested in helping Becca spread her message. I can't wait to see what other results our efforts are able to bring.

A Drop In The Ocean

This anti bullying video features Right Now Against Bullying National Spokesperson Becca Levy. Becca is covering Ron Pope's “A Drop In The Ocean.” The song was huge success for Ron Pope in 2009, going all the way to number 19 in the Billboard Charts. The tune also gained prominence in 2011 when Javier Colon performed the song to a worldwide audience on television’s The Voice.

The video was designed, animated, and produced by San Francisco, CA native and Rhode Island School of Design's Lauren Ashizawa. Lauren conceived and completed the work while she was an intern at Esente Music Group in Beverly Massachusetts during the fall of 2012.
Ashizawa’s hard work did not go unnoticed. Especially my Becca Levy herself. The Washington DC native and anti bullying advocate said  “Lauren did a great job getting our message out in the most creative way I could imagine.”

Right Now spokesperson Laura Kelly states, “ We are very lucky to have all this young talent available to us. Perhaps the best way to help effect change in young people is through other young people. This collaboration is a great example of the power of music and creativity. I am very proud of Becca and Lauren.

“This was a very cool collaboration. Combining the power of art and music proved to be an extremely powerful tool. The way Lauren incorporated her amazing illustration skills with the animation just blew me away ” says sixteen-year-old Levy. “As for the music I love Ron Pope and I love the song as well. I always thought we could incorporate the song into a video somehow to raise anti-bullying awareness."

Whats New with the Interns?

3/06/12- All day we worked on leads to make up some time from yesterday, working in Becca. In the end I collected 46 companies in Billerica for On Point.  Then we had a meeting to discuss Valeria’s video for Becca Levy anti-bullying campaign.  We gave her edits of the video, and sent her what we thought about how the video should end. Becca was in the meeting as well and gave what she thought should and should not be in the video.  Becca Levy was still shooting more videos for Indiegogo and Kick Starter.

What's new with the graphics interns?

2/26/2013
Today, I started my day off with researching for companies in Cambridge that could become clients for On Point.  In total I collecting 45, which is my all time best since started doing leads.  Then I worked on a new poster for Anti-Bullying, creating a rope image and layout the text. It is still a rough draft and might change the image, not sure what I want though. This will be used for Becca Levy Tour for anti-bully campaign. We were given a new project to find all the contacts for Middle and High schools for towns in Massachusetts.  I collected 6 schools in Salem, MA for the day.

Whats New with the Graphic Designers?

2/19/12- Today I worked on my Anti-Bully Poster from Esente.  I made some corrections to the quote (text) including changing the size and writing out the word One.  Then the picture did not match the quote because there was 1 and every 5th match lit.  To fix this I went into Photoshop and erased the extra match to make it 1 in 4 on the red version.  I still have to change the green image as well.  I continued with researching companies for On Point Media in Insurance in Cambridge, MA.  I collected 22 companies, some of the companies were hard to find.  Then I collected 6 college magazines with 10 contacts for Maine media list.  I am almost done with the whole state of Maine for media outlets and think I will finish tomorrow.  I also worked on the National Anthem working with Virginia Colleges, finding contacts information for Becca Levy to sing at an event (football, basketball, hockey and others).

What are the Esente Interns up to?

1/23/13
Today I worked on creating a media list for the state of Maine. I gathered newspapers and magazines that are located in Maine creating a reference excel sheet.  This will be used for sending out news on  Esente’s up and coming bullying campaign.  I collected five leads of companies in Arlington, Ma.  I attended a meeting with clients to discuss the design of the website and what content is needed.  We also talked about the companies target market and what kind of Marketing they need from us (On Point Media).

Ron had us all find cartoon images of Asian maids and cleaning ladies for reference material for an upcoming project.  Lastly, I researched more ideas and outlined the video on Becca Levy’s upcoming campaign which will be featured on Indiegogo.

What are the Esente Interns up to?

1/22/2013- Renee Breau worked on gathering information (leads) on companies in educational services, travel and leisure in Arlington, MA. The leads will be used for On Point Media to gain more clients.  She is starting to do research on Indiegogo’s crowd funding which is to be used in Becca Levy’s campaign for funding her tour. The research will be used to make Becca’s video and in turn generate the content for the video.  The research is also to learn more about the Indiegogo site and how it works.

What Are The Interns Up To?

Today I spent the first part of my day working on finding leads in Reading, MA for Esente.  After lunch I began work, with a team of four on an anti-bullying music video for Becca Levy.
As a team, we came up with a list of goals for the video, as well as a list of tasks that would need to be completed to meet these goals.  One of the main goals for this video, aside from promoting anti-bullying, was to provide more content for Becca Levy’s YouTube page so that fans have new content to view.
After establishing our goals and tasks lists we began work on storyboarding.  To do this, we printed out each frame (photos and captions) that was currently in the rough draft of the video so that we could lay them out and physically rearrange and/or alter them.  We determined this would be the best way to visually see what was going on in the video and to ensure that we were all on the same page while storyboarding.
There is still a lot of work to be done on the video, but I am excited about the opportunity to work on it and cannot wait to see how the finished product turns out!
